Footwear Buyer - Montreal (Full-time / Possibility of 4 Days a Week)

Maguire is a growing company whose mission is to offer high-end shoes and accessories at fair prices. We design and market our own products in-house from our headquarters in Montréal. We are currently seeking an experienced Footwear Buyer to join our team.

This person will lead and develop the buying department and manage the distribution of products into our four stores.

We are looking for an analytical person who loves fashion and numbers to complete our team of creatives.

Responsibilities:

Support in the forecast preparation.
Monitor sales and margin performance and interpret variances against budget and forecast.
Monitor stock levels and initiate recommendations for repeat orders and consolidations.
Monitor closely the stock movement of individual stores and work with store managers to arrange inter-store stock transfers to maximize sales and optimize inventory.
Create purchase orders, tracking reports, and open-to-buy reporting.
Analyze and determine size curves by market.
Ensure smooth and timely execution of the buy by taking the lead on buy execution post-range confirmation.
Manage pricing strategies.
Respond to in-season opportunities, including reorders, cancellations, and order rescheduling.
Maintain regular communication with suppliers regarding order confirmations to guarantee timely deliveries and proactively address any issues that arise.
Support negotiations and work closely with the factories to ensure accurate pricing and margins.
Assist in market research for competitive merchandise assortments.
Support the development of the range within brand DNA and financial targets by analyzing past sales to inform the new season strategy.
Proactively research and identify new brand opportunities to enhance the existing portfolio and maximize sales performance.
Turn store feedback into opportunities.

Requirements:

Proven experience as an Assistant Buyer or Buyer; buying background in footwear or the fashion retail industry is a plus.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, or a related field.
A minimum of three years of work experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel and a solid understanding of financial metrics; Shopify knowledge is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English (French, Italian, Spanish, or Portuguese is a plus).
Sound knowledge of purchasing principles and practices; strong financial acumen and analytical skills.
Deep passion for fashion with an awareness of upcoming trends.
Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze sales data, forecast trends, and manage inventory effectively.
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize.
Ability to work independently as well as a good team player.
Curious, willing to develop, and solution-oriented.

Employment Details:

Full-time position (35 hours per week) or 4 days a week (28 hours per week)
